Penetrating Wounds

A child who has been shot it is likely to result in serious injury. If the bullet was travelling at speed and passes through the child’s body the entry wound might be small however the exit wound is likely to be larger which can cause severe bleeding and damage internal organs. 

Treatment

  • Call 999/112 and ensure it is safe for you to approach the casualty
  • Controlling any life threatening bleeding is priority
  • If possible, apply direct pressure to the exact point of severe bleeding
