Response

Quickly check whether the casualty is responsive. You should do this by gently shaking the shoulders while asking them loudly whether they’re alright.

If the casualty responds, keep them still, then you should attend to any injuries or illnesses that they have before moving on to the next step.

If the casualty is a child you should try tapping their shoulders; if they are an infant tap their foot. You must not shake them firmly.

If there is no response SHOUT for help. DO NOT leave them.
