Cuts & Grazes

Cuts and grazes are a common type of injury in children and in most cases do not pose a threat to health. Cleaning them thoroughly and covering them with a plaster or dressing is all that is needed.

Treatment

  • Before you begin treatment put on disposable gloves if available
  • Clean the wound under running tap water. If this is not available you can use saline, saline wipes or alcohol-free wipes from your kit. Do not use an antiseptic as this can slow down the healing
  • Apply a suitable dressing, most likely a plaster
